I have added caramelized onions to in pasta sauces and on steaks (when I was a meat-eater). They are great flavor accents.
1 tbsp of (herb) butter
4 tbsp of honey (go local!)
1/4 cup of sliced sweet onions
1. Add onions, honey and butter to a pan and place over medium heat.
2. Make sure the onions get covered with the honey and butter as they liquefy.
3. Stir and watch the onions as they caramelize. The process takes about 15-20 minutes. When they are done they will be very brown, sticky and “limp”.
4. Serve with meal or in a small bowl.
